Religious festivals :– Gudi padwa, Gangor, Harchhat, Ram Navami, Akshya tritiya , Janmashtami, Navratri, Mahalaxmi, Sharad Purnima, Vijaya dashmi, Dipawali, Govardhan puja, Bhai dooj, Amla Navami.

 

Festivals celebrated by tribe and other :-

1.Mamuliya:–  It is a parv Celebrated by unmarried girls of Bundelkhand region.

2.Govardhan parv :– By Ahirs of Bundelkhand.

3.Meghnad parv :– By Gond tribe. meghnath is highest deity of Gond.

4.Madai – Festivals of Gond tribe celebrated after Diwali.

5.Ratona :- Festival of baiga tribe.

6.Sarhul :- Festival of Urav tribe.

7.Bhagoriya parv :- It is a cultural festival of Bheel tribe during Holi.

8.Nav annan :– During crop harvesting.

9.Lau kaaj :- It is a festival of Gond tribe in which they sacrifice pig.

Festivals organised by Madhya Pradesh government :-

  1. Khajuraho dance festival :-

– Started since 1976 – 77 during February and March every year.

– Jointly Organised by Madhya Pradesh cultural council and ustad Alauddin Khan music Academy-  Maihar.It is is an internationally  recognised classical dance Festival held every year in Khajuraho district Chhatarpur.

  1. Madhya Pradesh parv/utsav

    –     organised in New Delhi every year.

  2. Tansen music Festival :- 

Started since – 1925 by Scindia rulers.

-Organised at Gwalior in order to pay tribute to Tansen.

– Organisers – Department of culture government of Madhya Pradesh + Alauddin Khan Academy + Kala Academy.

4.Kalidas samaroh/ All India Kalidas festival :-

Place – Ujjain since 1977 duration – seven days

In the honour of Kalidas.

5.Malwa festival :-     Organised at Indore , Mandu and Ujjain since 1991

6.Lok rang festival :- Organised at Bhopal

Events – folk music, folk  design, Handicrafts exhibition.

Organiser – Madhya Pradesh adivasi lok Kala Academy.

7.Orchha festival  :- At Nimari District.

8.Dhrupad festival :- At Bhopal.

9.Tepa festival :- Ujjain based on Hasya vyangya.

10.Kumar Gandharva festival :-  At Dewas

11.Tribal film festival :- At Indore

12.Kumbh Mela :-

Simhastha Ujjain in every 12 year in the bank of kshipra river.{Last was on 2016}

13.Tulsi Festival :- At Chitrakut district Satna organised by Tulsi Academy (founded in 1987)

14.Bhagoriya Hat festival :-

At Jhabua  ( A week before Holi)

This festival is organised among bhagoriya tribe where young girls and boys have right to choose their life partner.

15.Lok Rang Festival :- It is a folk dance festival organised at Khajuraho every year by Madhya Pradesh tourism department.

16.Pachmarhi utsav :-

Organised at Pachmarhi district Hoshangabad in in last week of December every year.

In this festival folk art from Madhya Pradesh and  all over India have demonstrated and exhibited here.

17.Nimar utsav :- At Maheshwar Khargone.

18.Rastriya Ram Leela festival:- At Bhopal

19.Aameer Khan festival :- Held at Indore.

20.Rashtriy Hindi natya samaroh :- at Bhopal

21.Muktibodh samaroh:-  at Bhind

22.Bhavbhuti Samaroh :- Gwalior

23.Makhanlal Chaturvedi samaroh:-  Jabalpur

24.Pandit Balkrishna Sharma Naveen samaroh :-  Shajapur

25.Krishna rao  :-  Gwalior(classical music)

26.Padmakar Smriti samaroh :- Sagar

27.Chakradhar Smriti samaroh :- Indore

28.Subhadra Kumari Chauhan Smriti samaroh :- Jabalpur
